Senic introduces Muse Player: Jukebox for Sonos speakers

Senic wants to combine the operation of as many smart products as possible with as little time as possible in front of your mobile screen. The Senic Muse Blocks are one of the ideas of the Berlin startup. The thin cards have a small chip on which information about a Sonos or Spotify playlist is stored. Scanned by your cell phone, the playlist should then be played automatically via your Sonos system. The Senic Muse Player is designed to make your cell phone unnecessary.

Senic Muse Blocks: Spotify playlists with just one scan

The Muse Blocks are colorfully printed cards in beer mat format. Each has an NFC chip that tells your phone to first open the Senic Muse app and then play the corresponding playlist via Sonos. All you have to do is hold your phone against the appropriate Muse Block. So far, this only works with iPhones that allow NFC background reading, i.e. the models Xs, Xr, 11, 12 and 13. According to Senic, however, an Android version is being worked on.

So if you want to hear your breakfast playlist every morning, all you can do is hang the corresponding colorful card on the wall and touch it with your mobile phone. Your Sonos speakers will start playing automatically in the constellation you have chosen. So far, however, Senic has only been limited to playlists from Sonos and now also from Spotify.

Senic Muse Player: The docking station for your Muse Blocks

Now Senic has presented its own player. When you insert a Muse Block into the top slot, the Senic Muse Player will send the play command directly to Sonos. You can also use rudimentary controls to skip songs, pause, and adjust the volume of your Sonos speakers right on Muse Player. Once set up, you can completely do without your cell phone. It’s almost like we’re back in the pre-smartphone era. So it’s almost fitting that the Senic Muse Player is vaguely reminiscent of a small turntable. The functionality of the Senic Muse Player is a bit similar to that of the Toniebox. She uses small figures, so-called Tonies, in which children’s audio books or music albums are stored.

price and availability

You can now pre-order the Senic Muse Player in the Senic online shop. 199.99 euros are due. The set of five freely assignable Muse Blocks costs you 29.99 here. A steep price to save you a few tips in the Spotify app, but handy if you want to spend as little time as possible on your smartphone.
