Senegalese Football Association officials were surprised by what was reported about a crisis involving international Sadio Mane, the captain of their first team, before facing South Sudan tomorrow, at the start of the African continent’s qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Kara Theon, the media spokesman for the Taranga Lions team, told Al-Riyadiyah, in exclusive statements: “Mane has no problem. He has been training with the group since his arrival, and the last two practices he had were yesterday in the morning and afternoon. There is no crisis at all. “He would run alone for a few minutes, then join the training with the rest of the players.”
Senegal is in the second group, along with South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania, Togo and Sudan, and according to the FIFA system for the African continent, the first from each group qualifies directly to the next World Cup.
He added: “Mane does not suffer from any injury, and is ready to face South Sudan and Togo, and is training normally without suffering from a specific injury.”
It is noteworthy that the Senegal star played his last match with his team, Al-Nassr, in full, against Al-Wahda periodically, before he appeared in one of his country’s national team’s training sessions, training alone, which caused many questions from the fans of the Saudi club and the player’s fans.
