Opposition figure in Senegal was sentenced to two years in prison for sexual harassment. This verdict also sparked riots that claimed lives.
Reported AFP and Reuters, Friday (2/6/2023) opposition politician, Ousmane Sonko (48) did not attend the trial on allegations of sexual harassment. The Justice Ministry said the opposition leader could now be jailed at any time.
Meanwhile, police remained stationed around his home in Dakar as riots flared in the capital and elsewhere after the verdict.
