SENCE carries out preparation workshop for Codelco contractor companies – 2024-04-26 15:02:51

As part of a joint work group with Codelco Chile El Teniente Division, the National Training and Employment Service (SENCE) and its regional management held a complete preparation workshop and discussion with Codelco and 13 contracting companies, represented by their Human Resources, in order to articulate public-private efforts in the field of training and recruitment for mining projects in the short, medium and long term.

In the eyes of Marcela Contreras Torres, Regional Director(s) of SENCE, the training and labor intermediation model carried out by the service was presented here. “We show how we train people to achieve job insertion based on training plans built in a tripartite manner by employers, workers and the public sector, with theoretical and practical components. In addition, we present how the National Employment Exchange (BNE) works, which is a free, state tool that helps with recruitment processes, in which we can also provide advice and direct support to companies,” she indicated.

Contextualizing the objective of the work table and the approach of the copper company to SENCE, Mauricio Muñoz, director of Management and Supervision of Contractor Companies of Codelco, indicated that the labor deficit in some areas in particular was detected some time ago. , such as mine works, maintenance or electrical. “We must have companies with full resources to provide the proposed services and produce our goal. That is why we want to train people and promote training. “This gave us the opportunity with SENCE to connect demand with supply, and in this way be able to have more trained labor for the required services.”

It should be noted that the table also has the important participation of the regional representative of the Labor and Social Security portfolio, Jaime Chamorro, who stated that “as a seremia we provide all collaboration and support through our SENCE service. This virtuous and tripartite public-private collaboration coincides with the social dialogue that as a Government we have promoted in our labor and pension agenda, so we have many points in common and we expect the best results for the workers of the region from this.”

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Carla Abarca, assistant manager of Labor Relations and Human Resources at the Gardilcic construction company, appreciated that this is the first approach with SENCE, being “a good initiative because it is the time to unify criteria and our requirements are heard, since there have been changes and everything “If it is carried out in pursuit of process improvements, it will benefit us as a company by having more trained workers with much higher standards.” Susana Azar, corporate operations manager of the Maclean company, added that having a SENCE “concerned about having courses associated with our work makes it easier for us when hiring. That is why we look favorably on this tripartite entity, hoping that we can give it a good way to enter the division and with adequate and trained personnel,” since they have a significant shortage of resources and with this support a door would open for them.
