The intervention of Antonio Silván, in the appearance this week of the president of RTV in the Upper House is not wasted. The former mayor accused Rosa María Mateo, among other things, of “indoctrinating young people with television programs such as Operación Triunfo and Cuéntame.” Without choking on it, this senator described TVE as sectarian practices, information manipulation and facilitating the disqualification of the government’s political enemies.
What will this senator have in his head to see what he says he sees in these two television products that have been active for 20 years and no one has seen such doctrinal alterations?
With 25 years of political experience, the now popular senator Antonio Silván, an obedient person to his superiors, threatens to earn his bread by shouting loudly the arguments dictated by the strategists of a party that the National Court convicted of corruption just two years ago.
Short of political words and thought, the interventions of this popular senator will not pass, like these, of mere bar counter jokes. The pack that occupies the popular bench in Parliament – useless and harmful to ordinary citizens – is blocking the intelligence of some and the mediocrity of others.
If the series Cuéntame and the entertainment program OT teach young people, let Senator Silván clarify in passing the social damage the FAES Foundation may be doing to us.
