Senator Martha Márquez Alvarado launched forceful criticism of the position of Governor Tere Jiménez, regarding the delay in the distribution of the textbooks of the New Mexican School in the state of Aguascalientes.
The legislator expressed her disagreement with the decision to postpone the distribution of the books until the Federal Government ruled on the appeals filed. She described this position as “comfortable” and assured that it does not provide certainty in relation to the education of children.
Márquez Alvarado expressed his concern about the media treatment of the matter by the governor. He argues that this strategy diverts attention from the most pressing problems in Aguascalientes, such as safety, health, and management of water resources.
He also stressed the absence of concrete proposals in the president’s speech. She indicated that the statements about the awarding of scholarships and analysis are superficial and lacking in authentic solutions. She emphasized the need to focus on safety and addiction prevention, and to open more spaces for the active participation of civil society in optimizing the educational system.
Márquez Alvarado highlighted that restricting children’s access to textbooks could result in a growing educational gap, with possible severe repercussions on the development and learning of students in the state.
THEY ARE GOING TO WAIT. Aguascalientes joined Guanajuato and Querétaro in the decision not to distribute the new textbooks until the legality of the process by which they were produced is resolved.
