The Chartist senator Hernán Rivas announced on his social networks that he will request his removal from the Senate plenary session. He maintained that he has “complete assurance” of his innocence.
“This will allow the investigation process to continue,” he added. Although it is not clear if he posted from Punta Cana, where he was on vacation, or from Paraguayan territory.
With complete certainty in my innocence, I announce that I will request from the plenary session my immunity in the case. This will allow the investigation process to continue.

Related note: Request for the removal of immunity from Hernán Rivas is already in the National Congress
This Friday, the Guarantee Judge, Miguel Palacios, informed the Permanent Commission of the National Congress of the request for immunity against Rivas for his accusation of mediate production of public documents with false content and use of public documents with false content.
The Prosecutor’s Office suspects that he presented his apparently false educational certificate and title as a lawyer to swear before the Court. Later he served as a judge of judges in the Jury for the Prosecution of Magistrates (JEM) as a representative of Deputies, first, and later of the Senate.

Rivas stated that supposedly between 2010 and 2015 he studied law at the Universidad Sudamericana, but for the investigation there is no document “that can support the veracity of what said document certifies.”
