Yesterday the Senate approved, with modifications, the bill “Creating the National Higher Institute of Music.” This initiative was celebrated by all the parliamentarians for being a historic demand of the artistic community and coinciding with the festival of Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music, poets and the blind. The file goes to the Chamber of Deputies.
The text provides that the same functions, structures and study programs of the National Conservatory of Music will be incorporated. It becomes a Higher Education center in the public sector, with autonomy and autarky, under public law, with legal status and its own assets.

At another point, the plenary session also approved the bill “That modifies articles 1 and 2 of Law No. 2847/2005 ‘That recognizes the Vía Pro Desarrollo Institute, as a Higher Education Institution’”. The file goes to the Chamber of Deputies.
