Krefeld/Moenchengladbach. In its first session of the new legislative period, the Senate of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences appointed Professor Dr. Georg Oecking re-elected chairman. 18 out of 18 votes went to the professor of business administration from the Faculty of Economics. Also unanimously, Dr. Saskia Drösler, Professor of Medicine, Medical Controlling and Information Systems, from the Department of Health Care was confirmed in her office as Deputy Chairwoman of the Senate.
The duo Oecking and Drösler are thus entering their third joint term of office. The chairpersons of the Senate have a lot planned for the next two years. “The university is making its way in the area of tension between demographic development, climate change and digitization. We will support the work of the presidency constructively but critically,” said Georg Oecking immediately after the election.
According to the State Higher Education Act, the Senate is involved in the election and deselection of the Executive Committee. He must approve the planning principles for the university development plan, and the basic order cannot be changed without his approval. In addition to the Executive Committee and the University Council, it is part of the academic self-government.
