Senasa announces registration of second vaccine against poultry disease

It is planned to vaccinate 30 million to 40 million birds in the first stage.

(Agraria.pe) The registration of the second vaccine against avian influenza, announced the head of the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa), Miguel Quevedo, who reaffirmed his commitment to the sector in order to integrate efforts to safeguard national production and coordinate the initiation and control of immunization on commercial farms.

The official made the announcement during a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce of La Libertad and companies dedicated to the poultry sector such as Avisur, the Civil Association of Agricultural and Livestock Producers of the North (Apronohor) and the Peruvian Poultry Association (APA).

In accordance with the regulations, the vaccines will be applied to long-lived birds, which includes those from poultry farms and fighting or combat; the projection is to vaccinate 30 million to 40 million birds in the first stage.

Among the agreed agreements, in the next few days Senasa will meet with each of the laboratories interested in registering the vaccine against avian influenza, in order to streamline the processes and guide them more precisely to achieve the official registration; and thus have greater availability of biologicals approved in the country.

The acquisition of the vaccines will not represent an expense for the State, since these will be paid for by the private sector, which has shown interest in this control method.

Senasa’s job in the vaccination process is to ensure that the controls established in the standard are complied with, and for this, articulated work with the private sector is necessary.
