Volunteers from Sena Caldas participated in planting frailejones at more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
Around 20 members of the Caldas regional Sena, with the accompaniment of the National Natural Parks of Colombia, they sowed frailejones and other speciess typical of the area one kilometer of the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano.
“PFor the enrichment and replanting of dead individuals we have used seedlings propagated in the nursery Brisas a 4100 msnm. We sow frailejones, velillos, pilgrims and seven hides”, explained Laura Marcela Rengifo, restoration professional at Los Nevados National Park.
The activities, that seek the conservation of the paramo ecosystem, were carried out on the premises Termaleswhich It is in a conservation agreement with the protected area.
Lina María Marín, an official at the Sena Caldas Industrial Automation Center and who was part of the volunteering, stated what It is important to conserve high mountain areas that supply the territory with water.. “I participated in fertilization activities, plateo and sow”, he added.
The Sena volunteers attended this activity thanks to the call made by the environmental component and energy of the Sena Caldas.
