The Union of Teachers of Public Education of El Salvador (SIMEDUCO), denounced that the departmental director of Education of San Salvador, Ronal Monterrosa Rivera, has started a campaign of political persecution against union leaders and interim directors of schools.
On April 8, 2024, Monterrosa ordered the dismissal of José Daniel Rodriguez González, who served as director of the Cantón El Cedro school, municipality of Panchimalco, San Salvador; and at the same time, he is the general secretary of SIMEDUCO.
The teachers union explained that the director of the educational center was dismissed using a draft internal audit of the Ministry of Education, without giving him the opportunity to make use of the constitutional right to self-defense, so they alerted the teachers and, in particular the other victims of this type of acts, to file complaints.
SIMEDUCO warned that it will continue to make use of the law which characterizes every democratic society, exhausting the intervention of all national and international bodies, to guarantee the established constitutional order.
