Lingkar.co – Head of the Semarang City Health Service, dr. M. Abdul Hakam said that the Semarang City Government continues to strive to create a golden generation free from polio or paralysis. Therefore, the party also supports the target of achieving 100% Sub PIN Polio. However, it cannot be denied that there are always obstacles and challenges in implementing immunization.
“We responded to this challenge by taking a persuasive approach to the community and collaborating with cross-sectors, including the most trusted community figures to take the approach. “So in principle we will work as hard as possible so that all targets are achieved 100%,” said Hakam in his office, Wednesday (17/1/2024).
Hakam then said that the Polio Sub PIN could be obtained at 38 Semarang City health centers, including at posyandu, SD/MI equivalent, and at TK/PAUD. Hakam explained that each child will receive 2 drops of the nOPV2 type polio vaccine (Novel Oral Polio Vaccine Type 2) and it is given regardless of the child’s previous immunization status.
“This means that children who have previously received Polio immunization are still required to take the current Polio Sub PIN, because the routine immunization polio vaccine has previously been given to prevent type 1 and 3 polio viruses, while the current Polio Sub PIN uses the nOPV2 vaccine type for prevention. “polio is caused by type 2 polio virus, like the type of polio virus found in Klaten and Pamekasan, Madura,” he explained.
It is known that the Ministry of Health or Ministry of Health declared an Extraordinary Event of Polio in the Central Java and East Java regions after Polio cases were discovered in Klaten and Madura. As a result of the determination of the KLB, the Ministry of Health responded quickly through simultaneous Sub PIN Polio immunization in the two regions and Sleman district starting Monday 15 January 2024.
The implementation of Sub PIN Polio in Semarang City was first carried out by the Mayor of Semarang, Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu in the Graha Padma Area, West Semarang.
On that occasion, the Mayor said that the target recipients of sub PIN Polio immunization in Semarang City were 202,956 children aged 0-7 years.
“Sub PIN Polio will be carried out simultaneously in two stages. “The first stage will be on 15 – 21 January 2024 and the second stage will be on 19 – 25 February 2024. We convey that the city of Semarang is ready to make Sub PIN Polio a success to break the chain of transmission of polio and increase children’s immunity against polio quickly and evenly in the city of Semarang,” he explained. .
Apart from that, the Semarang City Government is also strengthening education by mobilizing health promoters in each Community Health Center to convince the public of the importance of Sub PIN Polio immunization.
The hope is that there will be no more Polio cases in Indonesia, especially in Semarang City, so that a golden and quality generation can be realized.
