Mexico City. In three separate events, the Mexican Navy (Semar) seized drugs and arrested a foreign national at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) “Benito Juárez.”
In a statement, the Semar reported that in the first event, the Naval Airport Protection Unit (UNAPAP), in coordination with private security personnel from the AICM facilities, detained a person who attempted to enter the country with a suitcase containing eight bottles of organic mineral material.
“As a result of the above, elements of this Institution performed the test with the chemical substances analyzer on the contents of the suitcase, testing positive for ketamine hydrochloride with an approximate weight of 7.97 (seven point ninety-seven) kilograms,” the agency detailed.
In a second event, an abandoned suitcase was seized inside the AICM facilities with suspected illicit substances, which when the respective mass spectrometry tests were carried out, yielded a positive result for cocaine with an approximate total weight of 1.17 (one point seventeen) kilograms.
In the third event, a passenger bound for Sao Paulo, Brazil, was arrested. He was attempting to leave the country with a suitcase containing six packages wrapped in organic mineral material.
“As a result, naval personnel performed a mass spectrometry test on the contents of the suitcase, testing positive for methamphetamine with an approximate weight of 5.61 (five point sixty-one) kilograms,” he said.
