Jakarta (ANTARA) – The consumer protection agency in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, Procon-SP has fined Apple US $ 2 million for the absence of a charger. (charger) in the iPhone 12 box, according to the 9to5 Mac.
Procon-SP said Apple was involved in “misleading advertising, selling devices without chargers and unfair terms”.
Apple announced in October that the iPhone 12 would not come with a charger or earbuds in the box, citing environmental concerns.

Additionally, Apple says it will be able to reduce the raw material for every iPhone it sells, in addition to reducing the size of the cellphone case.
Critics say the changes have more to do with allowing Apple to reduce shipping costs, and environmentalists say the impact on the environment is likely to be minimal.
Procon said it asked Apple if the company would lower the price of the iPhone 12 because no charger was included, but received no response.
The agency also accused the company of failing to help customers who had “issues with some functionality” on their iPhones after the update. A spokesman for the agency said Apple “needs to respect this law and this institution.”
The fines are unlikely to be too much of a bother for Apple, which had $ 111.4 billion in revenue in the first quarter of 2021 (the total includes sales of the iPhone 12 model over the 2020 holidays).
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Verge on Saturday.
