A glass of Parisian cucumbers can often be found in Ola and Kari Nordmann’s refrigerators, but at the moment the glasses with the sweet, pickled cucumbers are difficult to get hold of.
– We have simply run out of Parisian cucumbers all over the country.
This is confirmed by Dag Olav Stokken, who works as communications director at Orkla.
– There may be some local merchants who have some Parisian cucumbers in stock, but our knowledge is that we are sold out all over the country, Stokken tells Dagbladet.
Several weeks to wait
He says that it will still be several weeks until the Parisian cucumbers return to the shops, as the production of new cucumbers will begin in week 24, around 14 June. Paris cucumbers are a seasonal raw material and therefore production will only start in three weeks.
Stokken says that he has seen that advertisements are now being posted on Finn.no, where individuals try to sell their own cucumber glasses for remarkably high sums.
– We do not like that we ourselves are sold out. And think that people should be able to find good foods in the shops at very good prices. In this sense, we dislike that there is a market for selling the products far beyond the store price.
On Friday, there are six ads for Parisian cucumbers out on Finn.no, where the glasses are sold from 300 kroner, all the way up to 5000 kroner.
Suggests cucumber party
Communications Director Stokken concludes by proposing an alternative to selling the Parisian cucumbers on Finn, if you have a glass inside.
– Invite your cohort to an exclusive Parisian cucumber party. These days, it’s obviously more exclusive than expensive champagne.
– Received several threats
The most expensive Parisian cucumber glass on Finn.no is sold for 5,000 kroner, and there are over a hundred Finn users who have added the ad as a “favorite”. The ad has had over 16,000 page views since it was posted in mid-May.
The seller says that there is a good reason why the price has been adjusted upwards.
– It is simply a question of supply and demand. There are very few Parisian cucumbers sold at the moment, if any, and then the price goes up automatically.
When Dagbladet contacts the seller by phone, a request for anonymity is notified in the article, as the seller has received some threatening feedback from people, stitch due to the sky-high price they charge.
– I have received several nasty messages from people in recent weeks. Most people who send me messages are of a humorous nature, but some have threatened violence. It is very uncomfortable, says the seller.
– A serious ad
This is what they say after the doping charge
The seller really has a desire to eat the cucumbers himself, but decided to perform an experiment by laying out the cucumbers at the staggeringly high price. So far, no offers have been received that have come up for consideration.
– There were some who asked if I was willing to sell for 600 kroner, but it is in low compared to the price in the ad, which is seriously meant.
