Selfishness has won, Matovič is angry. Slovakia reports record infection and tightens measures

In the afternoon after the meeting of the government pandemic commission, Matovič said that on Monday, the central crisis staff will decide on a significant reduction in the number of people at mass events.

“Recklessness, frivolity and selfishness have won. Constant attacks, questioning the danger of the covid, theatrically ignoring the measures, making fun of those who abide by them have paid off. The results of the “fight for freedom”, which will now take freedom from everyone, “Matovic wrote on the social network.

According to Matovič, the pandemic commission proposed a reduction in the highest number of people at mass events, to one hundred indoors and 200 outdoors, which would mean a fifth compared to today. Events where people cannot sit could not take place at all. A maximum of 30 people could attend the wedding.

The pandemic commission proposed the aforementioned reduction in the number of participants in mass events with effect from the beginning of October two weeks ago, but Matovič then pushed for the current restrictions to be maintained. Now the prime minister has said that he no longer intends to fight for more freedom.

“We have a difficult time ahead of us. Even if we take measures today, we will see their impact in maybe ten to 14 days, “Matovic said.

For example, the opposition far-right party Kotlebovci-Lidová strana Naše Slovensko stands out from parliamentary formations against the wearing of veils, which is mandatory in buildings in Slovakia. In August, however, the media pointed out that Matovič himself did not have a veil at the wedding reception of his party colleague. Matovic said today that he had failed the event. According to hygienists, weddings are one of the risky events.

Today, Slovak police officers launched pre-announced random inspections of compliance with hygienic regulations at border crossings. Passengers returning from so-called high-risk EU countries must submit a negative coronavirus test result, or register and quarantine. Last week, Bratislava ranked the Czech Republic among the countries at risk due to the spread of coronavirus.
