self-tests will no longer be used as proof for the health pass

From October 15, 2021, PCR and antigen tests will no longer be systematically free for everyone. They will only be reimbursed under certain conditions. Here are the new modalities as specified this Friday evening by the Ministry of Health.

43 euros for a PCR test, 25 euros for an antigen

Antigenic and PCR tests become chargeable for people who are not vaccinated and who do not have a prescription.

They will be charged 43.89 euros for the PCR test, the antigenic test in the pharmacy will be charged 25.01 euros (and 30 euros on Sundays), 22.02 euros in the laboratory and the self-tests will be charged 5.20 euros. More details by clicking here.

Self-tests will no longer justify the health pass

Please note, from October 15, 2021, self-tests carried out under the supervision of a healthcare professional will no longer be recognized as proof for the health pass. “This device had indeed been deployed temporarily during the summer, in order to support the extension of the use of the health pass”, specifies the ministry.

Self-tests performed without supervision remain accessible for individual monitoring but will still not give access to the health pass.

Free tests for the vaccinated and the symptomatic

In order not to pay for a test, the solution is to get vaccinated. Indeed, for vaccinated people, the tests remain free.

Some unvaccinated people will also be able to benefit from free tests: those who show symptoms, unvaccinated minors and those who participate in a collective screening, such as those carried out in schools for example. Unvaccinated people will still be able to get tested for free if they need a test before surgery. It will be the same for the non-vaccinated who have a certificate of contraindication to the vaccine, as well as for the non-vaccinated and who are case-contact reported to the Health Insurance.

Free access also remains overseas

In order to take into account the specificities of overseas territories, in particular in terms of health situation and healthcare provision, the application of the end of free testing will be adapted to it: in Guyana, Martinique and Guadeloupe , the end of free tests will come on the date of the end of the state of health emergency.

In Mayotte, the device for the end of reimbursement of tests will not apply for the moment because of the fragility of the local screening system.
