Strong criticism is leveled at a group of prison guards who apparently did not notice that the self-proclaimed “satanist” and previously convicted man, Jamie Osuna, beheaded and cut up the man he shared a cell with in the Corcoran State Prison prison in California, USA.
It writes The Independent.
Did not discover it
The grotesque murder took place on March 9, 2019, and is said to have been committed with an improvised knife, according to information from the state.
According to The Independent, the guards who were at work the night the murder took place, have reported that both men in the prison cell were alive – after they had gone their rounds the night the murder took place.
It was not until the next morning that Osuna’s cellmate was found dead.
Further questions are asked as to why the two were in the same cell, since the self-proclaimed Satanist has a history of attacking his cellmates.
Criticized
The prison published itself a report about the murder after it was committed, where it appears, among other things, that an investigation of the incident was initiated.
In a government report, cited by Los Angeles Times, criticism is directed at this investigation.
The prison authorities do not disagree with the description, and say in a statement that a “thorough and complete investigation was carried out from the very beginning”.

Psychiatric health care
Convicted Osuna had not shared a cell with anyone else before the grotesque incident occurred. The man he killed had been placed in the same cell as him two days before the murder was committed.
The assistance lawyer for the deceased’s family has stated that the reports after the murder are marked by secrecy, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Osuna has now been transferred to Salinas Valley State Prison’s psychiatric admission program.
He has been diagnosed with a form of unspecified schizophrenia, antisocial personality disorder, and emotionally unstable personality disorder.
A judge has ruled that Osuna is not in a position to stand trial in the case as charged with the death of his cellmate.
