In the back room of a farm, politicians and communicators reflect on the best strategies to adopt in the face of “The Affair”. But the characters seem to forget at astonishing speed what they have just done and told. Abnegation is a text by Brazilian playwright Alexandre Dal Farra, written in 2013. Corruption of bodies and souls haunt this metaphorical version of political forces in Brazil, which also offers a premonitory version of the decay of our political world. An almost musical dramaturgy, a universe between realism and fantasy and a string interpretation under the direction of Guillaume Durieux make this 2020 creation a formidable dark comedy.
