Each year, the company Create & Cultivate publishes a list of 100 women who are helping to redefine the culture and the world of business. The opportunity to celebrate the trajectories of Selena Gomez and Kendall Jenner who both became accomplished businesswomen at a very early age. Last year, the singer and actress entered the cosmetics market with Rare Beauty. An adventure in which she had wanted to embark on for a long time as she confided to Create & Cultivate.
“Launching a cosmetics brand is something I’ve wanted to do for many years, but I knew there had to be a mission behind it. I’ve often spoken out about the pressure I feel about how I look, so I wanted to create a brand that changes the way people look at beauty and perfection,” she said.
Finally, Selena Gomez has advice for anyone embarking on a business project: “Be able to look in the mirror every day and be happy with the decisions you have made”.
Family first
For Kendall Jenner, 2021 will have been marked by the creation of her brand 818 Tequila. A new entrepreneurial adventure that finds its source in the family history of the star of the podiums.
“I am lucky to have a family made up of strong women who are entrepreneurs. So from an early age I was inspired by their involvement and their entrepreneurial spirit. Ever since I can remember, my parents loved tequila – it was our celebratory drink, so when I was growing up they introduced me to new tequilas. Tequila became a creative outlet for me that was inexorably linked to magical times spent with my family and friends,” she explained.
And if Kendall Jenner has any advice for future entrepreneurs, it’s this: “Think of the people who profit from your product as if it were your North Star”.
