Tahir Demirtaş, father of former HDP Co-chairman Selahattin Demirtaş, who is detained in Edirne Prison, fell ill at his home in Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır in the morning. Demirtaş could not be saved despite the interventions of the summoned paramedics.
After the procedures, Demirtaş’s body was taken from his home and taken to Yeniköy Asri Cemetery in Bağlar district for burial.
While it was learned that an application was made to the Ministry of Justice for Selahattin Demirtaş to attend the funeral, in the statement made by the DEM Party, it was stated that they would attend the funeral with all their units and that an announcement would be made when the funeral program is clarified.
On the other hand, CHP Diyarbakır Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu also went to the cemetery and expressed his condolences to the Demirtaş family.
Tahir Demirtaş had a heart attack in November last year, and Selahattin Demirtaş, who was in prison, met with his father in Diyarbakır, where he was taken under intense security measures.
