Sekkouri: Government wants to reach agreement before Labor Day

The government insists on the need for social partners to reach a consensus on the implementation of the agreement of April 30, 2022 before Labor Day, said, Monday in Rabat, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri.

In a statement to the press following a meeting with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and, earlier in the day, with the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT), Mr. Sekkouri stressed that the government insists on the need for all social partners to reach a consensus before May 1 with a view to implementing three main points of the agreement of April 30, 2022, namely improving income and increasing salaries in the public sectors and private, the organic law governing the right to strike and the reform of pension systems.

During this round of social dialogue, the unions raised several issues, he said, expressing the government’s willingness to interact positively with subjects that the social partners consider important.

Proposals relating to these subjects will be discussed during meetings scheduled from Tuesday between each union and the ministers concerned, Mr. Sekkouri said.

Also taking part in this meeting were the Minister of the Economy and Finance, the Minister Delegate responsible for the Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the Minister Delegate responsible for the Budget.
