His name had already been circulating in the halls for several weeks. Tuesday August 31, 2021, Eric Matthew was officially appointed public prosecutor at the Bobigny judicial court (Seine-Saint-Denis). He succeeds Fabienne Klein-Donati appointed Attorney General at the Lyon Court of Appeal (Rhône).

President of the National Conference of Prosecutors, Eric Mathais had worked for four years as public prosecutor at the Dijon judicial tribunal (Golden Coast). Previously, he worked as a prosecutor at the high court of Brest (Finistère) and Bourges (Cher).
Committed to the fight against domestic violence, Eric Mathais published a press release in June 2021 calling for more resources for justice. Defender of “local criminal justice”, he signed in February 2021 a protocol with the president of the association of mayors of Côte-d’Or, Ludovic Rochette, “for more proximity between local elected officials and the world judicial ”.
A prosecutor very present on Twitter
Present on social networks, in particular Twitter, he communicates regularly on the legal news of his court. “It is useful to make known the meaning of the legal action, because the French justice, with its weak means, does a job which is enormous. This is why I tried to organize communication, with journalists in particular. I was also interested in social networks, by opening a Twitter account, ”he explained in 2017 in the columns of West France.
Eric Mathais also went through the offices of Michel Mercier then Christiane Taubira at the Ministry of Justice as deputy director of criminal affairs and pardons.
