Saturday September 4, 2021, Jean-Philippe Ranquet was officially elected by the city council of Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis) to ensure the interim of Thierry Meignen, became a senator during the summer following the resignation of Philippe Dallier. Until then, he held the position of first deputy mayor.
Non-accumulation of mandates
“I must continue his mandate as a parliamentarian whichcomplete in 2023. The rule of non-accumulation adopted in 2017 also obliges me to suspend my mandate as mayor until this date, ”explains Thierry Meignen on social networks.
The former mayor justifies his choice. “I believe that a parliamentarian from the municipal majority can bring a lot to the town of Blanc-Mesnil. I experienced this when I sat on the regional council of Île-de-France. In 6 years, this brought in 14 million euros for the town of Blanc-Mesnil. »

Nevertheless, Thierry Meignen retains a place on the municipal council. He will take the lead of the majority group as group president. “I will continue to spend most of my time at Blanc-Mesnil. My office remains in the same place and my door will always be open to you, ”he assures.
Christine Cerrigone, 6th assistant, in charge of seniors and monitoring major works, will replace Jean-Philippe Ranquet as first assistant. “All the other elected officials keep their delegation under the same conditions”, announces Jean-Philippe Ranquet.
