It is well known: Seine-Saint-Denis is a land of talent. During the year 2021, many women in the department emerged or reconfirmed themselves among these talents.
Whether they are athletes, artists or entrepreneurs, here is a non-exhaustive list of women from Seine-Saint-Denis that stood out in 2021.
Culture is in the spotlight with Zahia Ziouani and Vanessa Fataccy
In November 2021, Zahia Ziouani was decorated with the medal of officer of the National Order of Merit by Emmanuel Macron. A great honor for the conductor of the symphony orchestra Fun, in residence at Stains : only 4% of women hold the post of conductor.
This is not the first award the artist receives. In 2008, Zahia Ziouani was promoted to knight of the French National Order of Merit. Titles which come to crown a great career, punctuated by the direction of numerous orchestras such as that of Cairo, Pays de la Loire or even Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Representing another part of the culture, Vanessa Fataccy also distinguished herself in 2021. Originally from St Denis, the entrepreneur won the “Creator of the Future 2021” trophy for her board game, Jamii. Meaning “community” in Swahili, Jamii is a game centered around Afro culture. Or rather, Afro cultures, as its creator wishes to point out.
