End of suspense. Tuesday, October 12, 2021, the Council of State definitively annulled the result of the municipal election of Pre Saint-Gervais (Seine-Saint-Denis) which had been won in the first round by the outgoing mayor Laurent Baron (PS).
“If I take note of this decision, I can only regret its consequences: our fellow citizens are now deprived of a municipal team well aware of the realities of Gervais, fully committed for 18 months to include the Pré in a dynamic of united city and ecological where life is good ”, reacted Laurent Baron in a press release.
Error in the bulletins
This decision comes following an error of “the citizen list of Pré Saint-Gervais” in the drafting of its ballot. In question : 42 ballots from this list, judged invalid because the nationality of a candidate did not appear, whereas this is compulsory by law.
These ballots had been used by voters despite the urgent reprinting of new compliant ballots. During the counting, the 42 ballots were invalidated. However, Laurent Baron was elected in the first round with only seven votes ahead.

New elections in three months maximum
While awaiting the holding of new elections, within a maximum of three months, the municipal council will be replaced temporarily by “a special delegation”, made up of senior officials appointed by the prefect. Its tasks will be limited to urgent and routine matters.
