New look on colleges of Seine-Saint-Denis. The departmental council has announced that it will devote a budget of more than 110 million euros to nine establishments, to carry out their renovation.
Work to be completed in 2027
It’s at Bondy, Noisy-le-Grand, Montfermeil, Gournay, Rosny-sous-Bois and Blanc-Mesnil substantive work will be done.
At the Pierre Brossolette college in Bondy, 29,300,000 euros will be put on the table. This should cover the creation of a school restaurant, staff accommodation or even the opening of classes of localized units for inclusive education (ULIS) and educational units for incoming allophone students (UPE2A). The college should thus increase from 575 to 700 students. Although the start of operations is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024, the work should be completed by the end of 2026 at the latest.
An increase in the number of students at the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry college in Noisy-le-Grand is also mentioned after the works. The establishment will increase to 750 students, with a new canteen, as well as a renovated multipurpose room.
A scientific center bringing together technology and science courses will be made available to students. 15,700,000 € will be allocated to carry out all this. The Antoine de Saint-Exupéry college should be 100% functional in 2027.
The eco-college plan pursues its heart
On the Montfermeil side, the Jean Jaurès college should have new toilets, a refurbished theater room or even a new thermal installation. The courtyard will be extended there and all the classrooms will benefit from a lick of paint. In September 2026, the Jean Jaurès 2.0 college will be effective. 20,300,000 euros will have been necessary. It should be noted that of the nine colleges, the Montfermeil establishment will be the one that will welcome the most people in the future: 800 students.
New courtyard, creation of a medico-social block, refreshed official housing: the Albert Camus college in Rosny-sous-Bois has not been left out. More than 13,500,000 will be spent by the Departmental Council, for an effective start in 2027.
Thermal renovation is planned at Jean Zay college in Bondy, Pablo Neruda college in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, Langevin Wallon in Rosny-sous-Bois, René Descartes in Blanc Mesnil and Eugène Carrière in Gournay. The objective is to achieve “a level of consumption 40% lower than current consumption”. 32,000,000 euros are allocated for work in these five colleges.
That is approximately 111 million euros spent in these colleges. A fraction of the billion allocated to the 2021-2030 Eco-College Plan inaugurated at the end of 2020. It should include 43 renovated colleges and eight new establishments.
