Seine-Saint-Denis. Man Arrested by Police, Gets Help with Wife’s Childbirth

Two police brigades helped a couple give birth to their child on New Year’s Eve, in Seine-Saint-Denis report The Parisian.

The mad night of police officers began when they spotted a vehicle driving at high speed towards Saint-Ouen, on the night of Thursday to Friday, while France was under curfew. They chase the one they think is a reckless driver. At the bottom of a building, the man gets out of the vehicle, raises his hands in front of the police who hold him up.

“My wife is giving birth!” He says. “And, by magic, they believed me,” he says.

Immediately, the police offered their help. The family gets into their vehicle and the police escort them all screaming sirens.

But the couple and the police do not have time to get to the hospital: the mother is about to give birth in the car.

Maternal instinct has taken over

A second police crew arrives and it is a young 30-year-old civil servant who will help the mother to give birth to her child.

“The maternal instinct took over, even though I don’t have children! I went to help the mother. Fortunately, one of my colleagues is a father, he explained everything to me. Little Eddior was born at 5:24 am on January 1st. He is doing well. His mom too.
