A 31-year-old woman died of her injuries after being stabbed at her home in Noisy-le-Sec (Seine-Saint-Denis) on the night of Friday to Saturday.
The neighbors called the police.
The police first spotted traces of blood around the suburban residence, then forced the door of the home and discovered the young woman still alive. Despite the intervention of the emergency services, the victim died.
No complaints or proceedings for domestic violence
The young woman’s spouse was arrested shortly after, a few hundred meters from the scene. Aged 41, he was taken into custody on suspicion of having killed her.
At this stage of the investigations, no complaint or procedure for domestic violence has been found concerning this couple, said the prosecution.
According to a report from the Ministry of the Interior, 146 women were victims of femicides in 2019 and 102 in 2020. The feminist collective against sexist and sexual violence #NousToutes counted 113 femicides in 2021.
In total, in France, more than 200,000 women are victims of violence each year, according to the ministry.
