Seine-Saint-Denis: a nurse beaten up in a bus after asking to wear a mask

“The loulous, maybe you should put on your mask!” This request formulated in a benevolent tone to three young men who were boarding a RATP bus line 203 resulted in a female passenger being beaten up. Two of the attackers were only 16 years old. They were presented to a children’s judge on Thursday, August 13. He requested their placement in pre-trial detention for “aggravated violence”.

The assault occurred on Tuesday around 3 p.m. at the Epi-d’or stop not far from the Balzac college, in Neuilly-sur-Marne (Seine-Saint-Denis). The victim, a nurse by profession, knew more than any other the need to put on a mask as Covid cases rise inexorably. The health professional, in her thirties, works at the Ville-Evrard hospital, in Neuilly-sur-Marne.

“Punches, kicks and head before putting her on the ground”

No sooner had she scolded the three passengers when they grabbed a bar attached to the ceiling of the bus to gain momentum and kicked her with her feet. They hit her with “punches, kicks and heads before putting her on the ground,” confirms a police source.

With “numerous superficial wounds and contusions”, the victim was prescribed five days of ITT (total incapacity for work).

Two of the three attackers were quickly arrested. By a happy combination of circumstances, three ASVP (public highway surveillance agents) from the city of Neuilly-sur-Marne were nearby.

Two minors in custody

“A patrol heard screams coming from a bus and saw that there was a brawl inside”, indicates the station chief. The latter who was already in line with the police station immediately requested reinforcements.

When they arrived there, the young people were still near the bus. One of the city officials was able to arrest one of the alleged perpetrators, and the national police arrested a second suspect. The third managed to escape. This Wednesday, the custody of the two arrested minors was extended by 24 hours.

Neuilly-sur-Marne, Wednesday August 12. Mayor Zartoshte Bakhtiari congratulates the ASVP who intervened quickly to arrest one of the attackers. DR

The scene was filmed by the cameras of the RATP bus. “The driver warned the security office by triggering the alarm which activates discreet listening inside the bus”, specifies the management of the RATP, which strongly condemns this attack.

“She had a very responsible attitude”

The DVD mayor of Neuilly-sur-Marne Zartoshte Bakhtiari was able to come into contact with the victim: “She is very affected. She had a very responsible attitude. Wearing a mask is a collective responsibility and it is a necessary evil, ”he notes, condemning“ the acts of these two totally unconscious young people ”.
