Seine-Saint-Denis. A man suspected of having killed his wife arrested in Bondy

A 37-year-old man was taken into police custody on Saturday for “spousal homicide”: his 34-year-old wife was found unresponsive on Saturday at their home in Bondy (Seine-Saint-Denis). She died shortly afterwards.

Saturday morning, the cries of a woman were heard in a building located rue Roger-Salengro in Bondy, northeast of Paris. Two children, among the five who were at home, had taken refuge with neighbours.

Police and firefighters were called. At the scene, paramedics found the woman unconscious. After a long cardiac massage, she was transported to the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris. She died there shortly thereafter.

An autopsy has been ordered but its results are not yet known.

A knife stained with blood

Police said the victim had no stab wounds. However, a bloodstained knife was found outside the building. “We were unable to determine if this knife had been used,” police said.

At home, the man had scratches on his face and arms. His custody was still ongoing on Sunday. The 30-year-old was not known for previous acts of domestic violence.

Children sheltered

According to the Parisianwho revealed the information, the woman would have taken refuge on her balcony, shouting “my husband is going to kill me”, a knife in her hand.

The children, aged 1 to 11 and whose parentage is not established, were not injured. They were taken care of under the “feminicide protocol”, which provides for temporary placement and sheltering, in addition to pediatric and psychological care.

The investigation for “spousal homicide” was entrusted to the department’s judicial police service.
