“Three out of ten French people do not seek treatment for financial reasons”. This observation, drawn up by the municipality of Pontault-Combault, served as an anchor for elected officials to broaden their offer in terms of solidarity and social policies. At the end of September, the city opted for the creation of its own communal mutual.
Available to everyone
“This will allow us to support the greatest number of people in complementary health”, reveals Gilles Bord, the mayor of Pontault-Combault. With four levels of guarantee, the latter displays cheaper rates than those found in so-called conventional mutuals.
Another asset of the municipal mutual, headed by Solimut, this does not impose any waiting period. “The support is direct”, assures the first city councilor of the city. In addition to these advantages, the municipal mutual insurance company is also open to all the inhabitants of Pontault-Combault.
“The terms of access are simple,” continues the mayor. Each Pontellois-Combalusien can take out a contract with this municipal mutual, regardless of their income level, ”he confirms. Before adding:
“It is also available for people who do not live in the town, but work in Pontault-Combault”.
And there too, there is no distinction. Whether people work in a community or in a company, anyone can sign a contract with this municipal body.
All districts concerned
In addition to a dedicated number, various hotlines have been set up at the level of the municipality. “We put in two a week. One of them was placed on the time of the meridian break to allow active people to be able to learn about this mutual, ”summarizes Gilles Bord.
Finally, the hotlines are itinerant in the city. “The goal is to ensure that all neighborhoods are affected”, assures the mayor who hopes that this new device will find its audience. “We don’t set ourselves any numerical goals. Our only desire is that everyone can benefit from additional health, ”he says.
And Gilles Bord concludes: “The first two offices were a great success.” This new service should quickly find its audience.
