“The first confinement was already very hard. But now it starts to get very complicated financially for many of us ”. With these words, Anissa Pereira, the president ofAcep, understand theassociation of traders from Pontault-Combault (Seine-et-Marne), is worried about the impact that the confinement on the Pontellois traders.
Difficulties
As in many other municipalities in France and Navarre, traders are in the most total adaptation. “For all those who had to close their doors, solutions had to be found. Some make deliveries and withdrawals in stores are always possible, ”continues the latter, who is also manager of the sign. It’s like at home.
Among the 130 brands in Acep, Anissa Pereira notes the difficulty for some restaurateurs to maintain their activity during these times of confinement.
“Catering requires working with fresh and perishable products. Sometimes it costs them more to stay open than to close. Some people ask themselves the question of continuing ”
Thus, in an attempt to let the storm pass, traders Pontault-Combault have relied on mutual aid. “We have set up groups on WhatsApp applications so that everyone can share their findings and even their discomfort. At times like this, it’s always better to have moral support from other people who are going through the same situation, ”she confides.
A kind of local currency
One of the main differences from the previous spring confinement is the appearance of gift vouchers. Already set up for one-off events, these served to boost the events set up by the association of traders. This time around, its members have seen the bigger picture.
“The goal is for these gift vouchers to become a kind of local currency. By purchasing these vouchers, people will be able to make their purchases from merchants who adhere to Acep. It will generate economic benefits for local traders. In other words, buying these checks is doing something for our merchants ”.
Supported by the City for Gift Certificates, the association of traders is scrutinizing the next government announcements and hopes that so-called “non-essential” businesses will be able to reopen for the month of December. “It’s still the biggest month of the year for many of us,” concludes Anissa Pereira.
