Producers could lose 2,200 million pesos if they do not authorize the transfer

The agricultural producers of the north of Tamaulipas, users of the 026 irrigation district, face serious problems due to the decision of the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto, which interrupts the transfer of water from the Cuchillo dam in Nuevo León to the Mars R Gómez Tamaulipas Dam producers are threatening to lobbying hard to tackle what they call expropriation.
Among the damages that the producers of Tamaulipas have to face, they cite that for the moment the bank stops resorting to the supply ministry as soon as all this is not favorably resolved, the pre-sowing fertilization will be paralyzed since there is no irrigation and plant and as such they do not know which fertilizers to apply since sorghum and corn have different types of fertilization. This was stated by the President of the Irrigation District 026 Eng. Marco Antonio Garza.
This whole problem stems from what they call expropriation of the water that the federal government did not want to authorize the transfer of the knife dam on Mars R. Gómez and it is stated that October 31 should have been authorized under the agreement of October 13, 1996 and that of 1. By November the gates for the passage of water should be opened, which in this case is of the order of 320 million cubic meters and has not been done.
Annoyed, they said that “they are forcing us to take other types of measures to avoid being expropriated of our water, the conditions are given, the agreement is very clear that there is water above 315 million m3. at the Cuchillo and Marte dams it has no more than 700 million m3. He will have to drain all that water to complete the irrigation plan. The reason is from the users of the 026 district and technically it is obvious, Nuevo León needs 153 million m3 for domestic use. per year for consumption and the reservoir currently has 762 million if there are 320, the knife dam would contain more than 442 million m3, enough water to guarantee more than 3 years of water.
If they were not aware of it, they would suffer great losses due to evaporation and losses in that field, together with the theft of this resource, causing damage of over 2,200 million pesos in the harvest to the producers of Tamaulipas, which is why we ask you to accompany us on Monday.
