Mexico City. The heads of the Secretariats of the Interior and Foreign Relations, Rosa Icela Rodríguez and Juan Ramón de la Fuente, respectively, held today an inter-secretariat work meeting “to address the migration phenomenon in national territory.”
The meeting was also attended by the secretaries of the National Defense, Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, and the Navy, Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles.
In a joint statement, the Foreign Ministry reported that the Undersecretary of Security, Héctor Elizalde Mora, and the Undersecretary of Human Rights, Population and Migration, Arturo Medina Padilla, were present; the head of the Migration Policy, Registration and Identity of Persons Unit (UPMRIP), Carlos Antonio Vázquez García; the commander of the National Guard (GN), Hernán Cortés Hernández, and the commissioner of the National Migration Institute (INM), Francisco Garduño Yáñez.
“The purpose of these inter-secretary work meetings is to coordinate the tasks carried out by the federal government to continue with a policy of regular, orderly and safe mobility of migrants,” according to the Foreign Affairs and Government bulletin. .
“Among the issues that were addressed are: the attention of migratory groups, the current situation of the management of irregular migration, coordination with other nations and the repatriation of Mexican people to the interior of the country,” indicated both agencies, without providing greater details.
