Sega’s Restructuring and Future Plans in Europe: Earnings Report Analysis and Layoffs at Creative Assembly

While yesterday we reported on Nintendo’s healthy quarterly report, in which they adjusted the figures for the Nintendo Switch console and the million sales of games, the turn has now come to former competitor Sega, with a far less enthusiastic balance sheet, and where they are taking several steps forward in the the restructuring in Europe as they did a few weeks ago.

I the document explaining the earnings report, there is a mention of the restructuring of the consumer division for Europe, where they mention several layoffs, mainly in Creative Assembly (remember, the developers of the late Hyenas), and a downward forecast for their financial expectations.

Sega’s future in Europe

The report briefly explains that the restructuring plan is to focus on the most well-known and established games, reduce the number of active development projects and open up the multi-platform market.

In addition, the European and American publishing divisions will be merged, and the mobile game market will be explored more actively, supported by the recent acquisition of Rovio.
