SEGA To Release Canceled Golden Ax Reboot Prototype On Steam For One Day

SEGA and studio The Eccentric Ape have announced that they will release a prototype called Golden Axed, a vertical slice of the canceled Golden Ax reboot that was in development earlier this decade.

The reboot of the series – not only Golden Ax, but others as well – was handled by SEGA Australia, which was closed in 2013. Since then, the projects have been removed to the back shelf. Fortunately, for its anniversary, SEGA decided to show gamers what Golden Ax Reborn could once become.

“On the occasion of SEGA’s 60th anniversary, as a special way of saying ‘Thank you!’ To our fans, we are releasing a working prototype of the Golden Ax Reborn, a one-level build created as a concept, or what is known in the industry as ‘vertical slice’. We jokingly named it Golden Axed “, – says the accompanying message.

The project will be released on October 18 at 20:00 Moscow time on PC only as part of the 60th anniversary of SEGA and will have only one level. It will only be available for 24 hours.
