Sega hosted a Like a Dragon session at Anime Expo today, and there was a little bit of information about Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
The panel only showed gameplay footage from Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which was showcased at the RGG Summit a few weeks ago. We will see YouTuber Kson in her role in the game. As the winner of an audition held by Sega over the past few months, she will play a live role in the game.
You can see some images from the game and its look in the picture below. She will play the hostess at the “Cabaret Club” along with the other finalists in the audition. If you don’t know what “Cabaret Club” is, it’s a (perhaps overly) literal translation of the Japanese term “Kyabakura” which refers to clubs for hostesses. These are establishments frequented by businessmen where they can pay to have a drink and hang out with attractive ladies.
They appear in several parts of the series, and the main character Kazuma Kiryu was both a client and manager of several Kyabakura, and even worked at a host club himself (a version intended for ladies hiring attractive men). It is worth recalling that while the media often associate kyabakura with a form of sex trafficking, any sexual interaction with hostesses and hosts is usually strictly prohibited, at least in the workplace.
By the way, since Kson won the Audition Grand Prix, she will play a much bigger role as a “madonna-like” character (who actually has a real 3D model and will appear in the gameplay) in the place where the heroes meet in the next main game Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name releases November 9th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The game will explain what happened to traditional hero Kazuma Kiryu between Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Infinite Wealth.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will release for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in early 2024.
