Sega puts an end to Sonic the Hedgehog’s free Steam game existence.

Some countries have moved into April 1. Japan is one of them, so Sega decided to give us its April Fools. I literally mean give.

Because Sega released a game called The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog on Steam, and this free title is exactly what it sounds like. This isn’t your average Sonic game as it’s a visual novel where you have to solve the murder of the beloved hedgehog by interrogating some of the franchise’s characters as a new character who’s starting their first stint on the Phantom Express working days.

The company specifies that this isn’t canon, so there’s no need to worry about Sonic Frontiers being the last good game in the series, just enjoy Sonic The Hedgehog Murders as a fun treat. Check out some of what awaits in the trailer below.
