A user on Reddit shared a survey from Sega. In it, the company wanted to know, among other things, how “Yakuza/Like a Dragon” players feel about celebrity cameos.
Nowadays, more and more celebrities are appearing in video games. Some only lend their voices to the characters, while others are also transported into the games with their appearance.
Sega now wanted to find out what significance such cameos have for the players in a survey on „Yakuza/Like a Dragon“ The company provided a whole series of well-known names that the survey participants were asked to rate according to their interest.
Do prominent voices influence interest?
Reddit user “JohnConquest” shared Sega’s survey and stated that the company initially asked very normal questions. Among other things, the Japanese company wanted to know whether the participants had heard of games like “Crazy Taxi” or “Persona.”
Then the questions shifted to Yakuza/Like a Dragon and which parts of the series had already been played. Things then got more specific, however, as Sega wanted to know how the survey participants felt about celebrity cameos. They asked what users thought about main characters being voiced by celebrities or even what the celebrities looked like.
Company lists names like Keanu Reeves and Billie Eilish
For this purpose, the players were given a list of celebrities that they were asked to rate according to their interest. The list included Aiden Gallagher from “The Umbrella Academy”, Jack Black, Hiroyuki Sanada from “Shōgun”, Lionel Messi, the wrestler Xavier Woods and the actor and voice actor Hank Azaria, known from “The Simpsons”, among others.
Next up was Danny Trejo, who had already been in „Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth“ Minoru Iwasaki, Rami Malek, gymnast Simone Biles, Dr. Dre, Robert Pattinson and Lady Gaga. Also on the list were voice actor and “Critical Role” DM Matt Mercer, baseball player Shohei Ohtani, Keanu Reeves, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Vin Diesel.
The list was completed with the names LeBron James, David Hayter, Seth Rogen, Kit Harington from “Game of Thrones”, Mark Hamill, Eminem, Ozzy Osbourne and Billie Eilish.
After the great success of „Fallout“ In June, Amazon announced another game adaptation. This will deal with the “Yakuza/Like a Dragon” series. The series will be called „Like a Dragon: Yakuza“ and consist of a total of six episodes.
