In the last 24 hours, 475 corona infections have been registered in Norway. That is 202 more than the same day last week.
We have to go back to May 26 to find a higher number of infected registered in one day. Then it was 499.
In the last seven days, an average of 338 corona infections have been registered per day.
The corresponding average seven days ago was 227, so the trend is rising.
Increase in more cities
“Should have taken the damn vaccine”
By midnight on Wednesday night, 6.5 million corona tests had been performed in this country since February last year. A total of 138,740 people tested positive.
The infection continues to increase rapidly in several places in the country, including Oslo, which has also previously been the clear epicenter in Norway. On Tuesday, 311 new cases of infection were confirmed on a national basis and 72 new ones in the capital. Also in Bergen, there are high infection rates with 48 cases.
Looks something like in Europe
In large parts of Europe, they are in a fourth wave of infections, and assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad told NTB on Tuesday that they see the start of something similar here as well.
– In Norway, we also see the start of a wave that currently consists of isolated outbreaks and which will grow if the outbreaks do not come under control very soon. The consequences of a new wave of infections depend on how many people become infected and are vaccinated in the coming weeks. So far, we do not see signs of more hospital admissions, but this may change, he says in an e-mail.
1.8 million fully vaccinated
– Increases the likelihood of new mutations
To date, 3,602,599 people have received the first dose of the coronary vaccine, and 1,823,386 people have received the second dose.
On Tuesday, 19 corona patients were hospitalized. There were two more than the day before.
A total of 799 corona-infected people have died in Norway since March 2020, FHI’s figures show. Whether patients have died of or with covid-19 is not always possible to establish.
57.9 percent of all deaths are 80 years old. In the age group under 50, 17 deaths have been reported in Norway.
