Seen from Argentina. Renting in Paris during the Olympic Games, the assurance of hitting a “real jackpot”

The Games may still be far away, but the budget required to attend the events in the French capital is starting to worry even in Argentina. “Soaring rents in Paris: prices of apartments to rent soar on the eve of the Olympic Games”, titre Clarion, in Buenos Aires.

The “diktat” of supply and demand

More than 1,000 Parisian owners have already offered their property for rental for the Games. Clarion went through the ads and noticed, perplexed: “And, as there are already almost no apartments available, we can find, in Paris and Île-de-France, a garden for rent in which to pitch your tent, or the bedroom of the son who has left the family nest. This is the total dictate of the law of supply and demand.”

So, tell Clariona three-room apartment in the XV^e district of the capital is offered at 690 euros per night, excluding cleaning costs, instead of the 165 euros planned for summer 2023. “At this rate, if the apartment is rented for the entire twenty-three days of the Olympic Games, the owner will pocket nearly 16,000 euros,” calculates the daily.

But the good deals don’t stop there. “If you are not ready to pay such a fortune […]remains the option of urban camping.” For this option, offered on the specialized HomeCamper platform, it costs around 3,000 euros for two weeks, reports the site.

“It probably won’t be “glamping” [camping glamour, haut de gamme], but at least you won’t have to worry about whether you’ll have access to the toilet. And with a little luck, who knows, maybe your host will even offer you a bottle of rosé.”
