Corona restrictions
Since April 29, 2022…
The Federal Infection Protection Act now only allows so-called basic protection measures. The Hessian state government has therefore decided to make necessary adjustments to the Corona rules. Many of the previously remaining measures are now completely eliminated.
beyond that Hotspot Rules, as envisaged by the federal government, are currently not legally feasible according to information from the state of Hesse. Areas are classified as hotspots in which, for example, a more dangerous virus variant than previously known is spreading or in which the health system is at risk of being overloaded. The state is monitoring the situation throughout Hesse and will announce further steps depending on how the situation develops.
Mask requirement
A mask requirement still applies
-
- in medical practices and hospitals (not for inpatients),
- in retirement and nursing homes,
- in nursing and rescue services,
- in buses and trains (local public transport and long-distance transport),
- in collective accommodation such as homeless and refugee shelters.
There is no longer a general obligation to wear masks indoors. There is also no longer a legal obligation to wear masks in schools, universities and other training institutions. However, occupational safety measures can, independently of this, provide for a mask requirement on the basis of the risk assessment to be carried out.
Surgical masks and protective masks of the FFP2, KN95, N95 standards or comparable designs without an exhalation valve are permitted to fulfill the mask obligation mentioned.
Exceptions to the mask requirement are valid
-
- for children under the age of six,
- for people who cannot wear a medical mask due to a health impairment or disability,
- for people with hearing impairments and their direct communication partners, to the extent and for as long as it is necessary for their communication,
- for the facility staff, as long as there is no contact with other people or other and at least equivalent protective measures, in particular separating devices, are taken,
- to the extent and as long as it is necessary to remove the medical mask for therapeutic, legal, pastoral, ethical-social or other factual reasons.

- Prisons and detention centers awaiting deportation etc. can decide for themselves whether to order compulsory testing.
The general obligation to provide negative evidence when entering all workplaces no longer exists.
Some citizens are still entitled to free corona tests.

Isolation and Quarantine Rules
The previous obligations for isolation or quarantine remain in place on the basis of the RKI recommendations.
What do I have to do if the corona test is positive?
Is the result of your
-
- PCR-Tests,
- Rapid antigen tests or
- corresponding quick tests for self-use (self-test)
positive, you must go straight into quarantine at home. The quarantine obligation begins as soon as the positive test result is available. It is no separate quarantine order from the health department is necessary, because this is now regulated in the Hessian Corona Virus Protection Ordinance. The quarantine begins immediately after receiving the test result and lasts five days.
The isolation should be continued independently as long as symptoms of COVID-19 are present and should only be ended after 48 hours of freedom from symptoms.
Important: After a positive antigen test or a corresponding rapid test for self-use, the infection must be confirmed by a PCR test. In order to carry out this test, the quarantine may be interrupted. If the PCR test is negative, the quarantine ends.
You can reach the public health department of the district of Offenbach to report a positive PCR test result at [email protected] or by fax to 06074 8180-1920.

When does the quarantine obligation apply after a positive corona test?
The obligation to isolate begins as soon as the positive test result is available – both in the case of a positive PCR test and in the case of antigen tests and those for personal use (self-test). After a positive antigen test or a corresponding rapid test for self-use, the infection must also be confirmed by a PCR test. In order to carry out this test, the quarantine may be interrupted. If this PCR test is negative, the quarantine ends.
It is in all of the above cases no separate order from the health department is no longer necessary. The quarantine obligation is now regulated in the Hessian Corona Virus Protection Ordinance. The quarantine therefore begins as soon as the test result is received and lasts five days.
If symptoms of a Covid-19 infection persist after the five days have elapsed, the quarantine must be continued independently and only ended after 48 hours of freedom from symptoms.
You can reach the public health department of the district of Offenbach to report a positive PCR test result at [email protected] or by fax to 06074 8180-1920.

What applies to contacts?
There is no quarantine obligation for household members until the PCR test result has been submitted.
If you live in the household with a person who has tested positive for a PCR test, reduce face-to-face encounters with members of other households for at least five days, especially if they do not have an adequate immune status due to vaccination or recovery. It is recommended to test yourself daily. The same applies to other close contacts of infected people.
In addition, the health department recommends that all people who have tested positive inform their close contacts outside of their own household about the infection immediately. They should be tested regularly.
–
–
Can I test myself out of quarantine?
With the reduction of the regular quarantine obligation to five days, the possibility of free testing is no longer available.
Employees in vulnerable facilities who have contact with patients or people requiring care must present the health department with a negative PCR result or negative test evidence from a recognized test center before they can resume work after an infection. The test may be carried out at the earliest on the fifth day after the positive test.
