TANGERANGNEWS.com-Virus exposure did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm of dozens of patients to take part in the 76th Republic of Indonesia Independence Day ceremony at the House of Fighting COVID-19 (RLC) South Tangerang City on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
Even though the sun was shining so brightly, dozens of participants still attended the ceremony so solemnly.
The ceremony began along with a signal spoken aloud by the ceremony commander, who was none other than a positive COVID-19 patient.
Not long after, the red and white flag was seen flying in the ceremony area.
The red and white sangsaka was unfurled by the flag-raising officer, which consisted of a patient and health workers who equipped themselves with personal protective equipment (PPE).
The flag fluttered along with the bounce of the national anthem of Indonesia Raya.
After the red and white fluttered in the gust of wind, the participants were now swept away by the chanting of the song Menheningan Cipta, as a form of remembering the services of the heroes who had fallen while fighting for independence.
Coupled with being swept away by the condition of the country that is not doing well due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Coordinator of the House for the Fight against COVID-19 for Tangsel City, Suhara Manullang, said that the implementation of this independence ceremony was a form of the spirit of the patients to achieve independence, either in a general or in a specific sense which was interpreted as healing.
“We at RLC along with residents (patients) who were confirmed positive held the 76th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence. Where we know that independence is a pride for everyone,” he said after becoming the inspector of the ceremony.
Suhara said the ceremony was deliberately held in a simple manner. Given the current condition, it is still quite worrying.
However, the implementation of the independence ceremony this time has a very deep meaning.
“It means that we all represent that we are struggling. We are not only fighting physically from the colonizers. But from uninvited guests, namely COVID-19, which takes our social freedom, even spiritually we are limited,” he explained.
At this moment, Suhara hopes that Indonesia can achieve complete independence. Especially from the pandemic that has hit more than a year.
“The hope is that we have passed the second wave, now the remnants are left here. We want to recover as soon as possible, be normal and return to activities. But we remain vigilant that what we know is that the vaccination target to achieve mass or group immunity has not been achieved,” he concluded.
