Seehofer and Maas reject hasty relaxation when traveling

Just no quick shots

How exactly the best time of the year will be for us, when we can go abroad again, nobody can predict exactly at the moment. The fact is: The worldwide travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office has been extended until mid-June. And when it comes to travel, interior minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) and foreign minister Heiko Maas (SPD) agree and warn against hasty rapid shots.

Virus doesn’t take a vacation

Foreign Minister Maas emphasized in the newspapers of the Funke media group that the borders in Europe should remain closed “no day longer than necessary”. But the government must also “control and coordinate the opening of borders so as not to jeopardize the progress made in the fight against the virus, for which we have all sacrificed part of our normal life in recent weeks”.

“If people can not only fly abroad again, but also come back with sufficient security, then we can gradually reduce the travel warning,” said the SPD politician. But there should be no quick shots. “We cannot and will not bring a quarter of a million people back from vacation in the summer.”
