Libreville, Friday, May 26, 2023 (Gabon Info) – The managing director of the Société d’énergie et d’eau du Gabon resigned the day after his appointment, following an outcry among public opinion contesting his appointment.
This is unprecedented in the history of the Energy and Water Company of Gabon (SEEG). Barely appointed last Monday to the post of this strategic company, Ousmane Cissé gave up his apron yesterday. The former director of compliance, audit and risk at the Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS) was forced to resign in the face of popular pressure. With the Citizen Copil and the SEEG agents in the maneuver who protested his appointment to this post. In his letter of resignation, he let it be understood that he was acting out of “the desire to avoid putting a brake on SEEG’s transformation objective, which can only be implemented in a climate of serenity”.
Following an extraordinary session of the Board of Directors held yesterday, Sylvère Bithegue has been appointed interim CEO. The new promoter held the position of deputy general manager in charge of technical and operations. The Board of Directors will have to launch a call for candidates with a view to appointing a general manager of SEEG.
