Gabriel Dimitrov, who for several months maintained an intimate relationship with 33-year-old Evgenia Vladimirova, said this in the Sofia City Court. The young woman disappeared on October 13, 2021, and a month later she was found near Pernik dead, stuffed in a suitcase, with cling film wrapped around her head. Her husband, Orlin Vladimirov, and his father, Plamen, a former DANS employee, were detained. According to the prosecution, the young man, who is a computer specialist, strangled his wife, and the parent helped him get rid of the body.
Her lover was questioned at the hearing on Friday. He and Evgenia met in summer 2021 at the “Gradina” campsite. Gradually their relationship became intimate. Gabriel also had a relationship, which on September 10, 2021 turned into marriage. He and Evgenia saw each other once or twice a week in a hotel. They also met in the days surrounding his wedding. They last saw each other on October 12, 2021 in a hotel in Gorublyane district. The next day, Evgenia disappears. The judge in the case, Vera Chochkova, asked him several times whether his relationship with Evgenia was serious and whether he gave her hopes for a life together.
“I have never offered her to live with me, I can hardly talk about feelings,” explained the witness succinctly. The news of Evgenia’s disappearance found him at a medical congress in Borovets. There they interrogated him for the first time.
Evgenia suspected that she was being followed. Once, when she was with Gabriel, a friend called to say she saw her husband’s car in the area of their meeting.
“Orlin doesn’t express emotions, he doesn’t fight, he doesn’t get angry. He didn’t have the courage to understand each other,” said Evgenia’s brother Nikolay Chorbanov. He described Orlin as a psychopath, a man with two faces, and his father, Plamen, as an alcoholic who was early retired from DANS because he drank on the job.
“Orlin no was actively searching Eugenia. She was writing us messages trying to find out what we knew,” her brother explained.
