Dr. Antonia Valentinova is a 27-year-old Roma woman from Pernik. He is an anesthesiologist by profession. He speaks four languages.
Antonia Valentinova is a “fourth generation of integrated Roma”. Her mother is an engineer, enrolling her in a Roma-free school to receive an adequate education. Her parents’ dream is for their daughter to study abroad, but she chooses medicine.
She graduated from the Hristo Smirnenski High School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics with English and German in the mining town.
She was admitted simultaneously to three medical universities – in Sofia, Pleven and Varna, with a very high score. He chooses to study in the capital.
For her preparation for the exams Antonia receives assistance from the scholarship program for medical students and doctors of Roma origin – an initiative of the Roma Health Care Project – Budapest, a scholarship program of the Roma Education Fund and the Open Society Institute with partners Amalipe Center and the Promedia Foundation.
The project aims to support the higher education of students of Roma origin, who have chosen the specialties of medicine, pharmacy, obstetrics, radiology and rehabilitation, health management.
In 2018 she graduated in the 2018 class of the Medical University in Sofia, where she entered with 5.75 in chemistry and 5.49 in biology, and graduated with a grade of 5.25.

Initially she turned to neurology, her mentor was Prof. Ivaylo Tarnev, the head of the clinic for nervous diseases at the University Hospital “Alexandrovska”, later she decided to specialize in anesthesiology and intensive care.
He works as a resident doctor in the Emergency Department and as a specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care.
In 2020 he received the “Young Doctor of 2020” award. for his work during the pandemic of COVID-19 in the intensive care unit at Acibadem City Clinic UMBAL Mladost.
