However, when that advice comes from the peerless Bill Gatesit makes all the sense in the world, after all the co-creator of Microsoft is one of the most successful men in history and remains one of the richest in the world.
Zuckerberg, the genius of Facebook (Meta), also appears on the list of millionaires. However, if Gates had not achieved the feat with the Redmond company, Mark would not have the same inspiration.
Advice for success, according to Bill Gates
At the time he received the advice, during a Facebook Live session, Mark Zuckerberg asked Bill Gates the following question:
“If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?”
To which Gates replied:
“I was so naive about different skill sets. I thought if someone had a high IQ they could be good at everything.
And that idea that you had to combine different skills still blows my mind!
That notion that there was just this simple idea of intelligence and it could solve everything, I wish I had known better than to focus on that.”
With that, what Bill Gates is trying to teach is that people need to understand that there is no way to be intelligent and that we shouldn’t do everything alone.
Therefore, it is right to have a team of people you trust to have broader ideas, different points of view and learn from your allies, from those around you, and thus have the ability to separate and deliver responsibilities and tasks without much concern.
